The attacks happened around 1-3 pm local time, after one of the suspects allegedly posted Islamophobic content throughout his Twitter and 8chan. This particular suspect is allegedly a 28-year old Australian national. Witnesses identified the suspect at the scene (Masjid Al Noor mosque, Christchurch, New Zealand) as a white male with a dark helmet/head protector, in a camouflaged outfit, seemingly a premeditated attack. This served as the mosque with the most casualties.
Another shooting occurred at the Linwood Masjid Mosque where another prayer goer opened fire on the suspect. Allegedly two were injured according to an interview with Mark Nichols, a local business owner, who witnessed ambulances and the event outside the location. Bombs were also found at a location.
40 confirmed deaths, 20 Injuries. New Zealand authorities are continuing their investigation and searching for other suspects.
3 people have been arrested, 2 men and 1 woman. School lockdowns have been lifted.
