These researches agree, that there is significant compelling evidence that there may be oceans beneath the icy exterior of Pluto, especially in Sputnik Planitia (A Texas-size region). They affirm that, in theory, gas hydrates may be able to keep the underground ocean from freezing over. Gas hydrates are crystalline formed from trapped gas under pressure that has low thermal conductivity. It could serve as an insulator for heat, keeping the oceans warm enough.
This doesn't just only apply to Pluto, but it adds more evidence for other icy worlds within our own solar system and it may expand our knowledge of life on Earth, and perhaps alien complex life. In Pluto's case, scientists have hypothesized that methane (necessary for life) may also be present underground. These revelations have given scientists some hope of finding evidence for microbial life below the ground.
Pluto does have an interesting atmosphere, which consists of nitrogen and methane, which makes Pluto all the more amazing. Is there alien life beneath the surface of Pluto? What do you think?
