Trump aides have suggested to put the United States' Border crises as a National Emergency which means Donald Trump could enact new laws without congressional approval using his legal executive power. Which could mean militarizing our southern border with the National Guard, and ramping up Coast Guard operations. Opponents claim that Donald Trump is exaggerating the threats of recent booms in migrations, citing that these movements are related to drug cartels and are not as dangerous as pro-Trump conservatives claim. Trump plans to make a public televised visit to the southern border, this all comes after Trump simmered down on his Stance about Afghanistan and Syria, it seems like we won't be bringing our troops back just yet.
For those unaware, during a federal shutdown most federal welfare programs are still active during a federal shutdown, but some unnecessary agencies will be closed. Some people feared that tax returns would not be paid out to American tax filers. Locals in Central Florida were very concerned, recent polls from the Morning Consult show that roughly 46% of floridians approve of Donald Trump in December (Donald Trump has fallen in approval rating since he took office in January 2017). The IRS stated that the tax season will proceed as it normally would, and it will begin this January 28th. IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig stated that "[The IRS is] committed to ensuring that taxpayers receive their refunds...". Hundreds of IRS workers will be returning for work during this tax season.
